Home Smart Central: Surveillance and Home Safety
Surveillance Camera Systems
Todays Surveillance Camera Systems have come a long way. Night vision used to be something the Military used, but today, we can see at night for a very minimal cost. Cameras come in many shapes and sizes and there are numerous manufacturers. HomeSmart has access to many of these manufacturers, but we stick with a few trusted brands.

HomeSmart Central customizes every project with cameras and digital recording that fit the application and budget. Our installations include Apartment Complexes, Gated entries, front doors, docks, pools, playgrounds, parking lots, and many more.
FYI:
-Cameras can view in two different ways
1) Wide angle/Fixed Focus covers a broad area to see what is going on example: show a pool or dock or parking lot- detail is lost at about 40
2) Vari-focal- covers a small area but gives detail - example: license plate cam or facial camera at entrance to a gate or store
-The detail a camera provides is not only in its zoom factor, but cameras are rated by their TVL - TV lines of resolution.
1) 320 TVL is an entry level camera in provides moderate detail
2) 560 TVL is a high resolution camera that can give great detail
-Night Vision- Cameras can see in total darkness when they are equipped with Infrared LED Illuminators.
1) They are also know as Day/Night cameras
2) The distance they can see at night is determined by the number of LEDs
3) Some cameras can see as far as 150 in total darkness
-Camera pricing varies widely and is determined by the above parameters plus many other factors such as Auto-iris, Auto-white-balance-etc.
Camera Types include: Dome Cameras, Bullet Cameras, Concealed Cameras, Vari-Focal, Pan/Tilt/Zoom, license plate cameras, IP Cameras, and more.
Indoor/Outdoor Cameras are self contained within a weatherproof housing. They are typically used for general viewing and have a fixed focus or varifocal lens.

Covert Concealed Cameras
Cameras can also be concealed where they look like other devices such as Smoke Detector Camera, PIR (motion) Detector Cameras, Sprinkler Camera, Exit Sign Camera and many more.

Box Cameras
More traditional style cameras are sometimes referred to box cameras. They have interchangeable lenses that are selected by the level of resolution and zoom abilities. This style is often used when great detail is required such as reading license plates or seeing facial features. When these cameras are place outside, they require an outdoor housing to protect from the elements.
IP Cameras
The latest technology is an IP camera. They have a built-in web server that allows direct viewing from and Internet browser such as Windows Internet Explorer.
PTZ-Pan/Tilt/Zoom Cameras
PTZ cameras allow a user to remotely control the camera. From a keyboard or special controller a camera can be controlled to zoom, tilt up and down, and pan left and right. These cameras are very useful when the camera is being monitored by a human and the control is needed
UVSS: Under Vehicle Surveillance System - License Capture Camera
Never miss a vehicles tag again!

Camera(s) built into speed bump
UVSS is a revolutionary vehicle license capture system. Its patented design warrants clear pictures of the license plates of vehicles under all lighting conditions - high or low, day or night, front or back, headlight on or off ... It basically eliminates all the limitations of other expensive license capture cameras.
UVSS is part of the new Identifier Series Camera systems from IC Realtime
Going away from trying to figure out where the vehicle will be in order to get the proper shoot of the tag, the (UVSS) UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM is always in exactly the right position. The UVSS works perfectly in all weather conditions and is available in single, double or a six camera units for states which have front and rear facing tags. It works on all plates both reflective and non reflective and headlights and brake lights have no adverse effect at all.
Available in 3 configurations:
UVSS1 -Single Camera One Side Configuration
UVSS2 -Double Camera Dual Side Configuration
UVSS6 -Six Camera Inspection System Triple Camera per Side
Digital Video Recording (DVR)
Recording of camera video has changed a lot in the past few years. Traditionally, recording was done on a video tape and tapes had to be changed out regularly in order to keep a history. Today, recording is done digitally on a DVR which is essentially a computer with a hard-drive. These systems are designed to automatically overwrite old video as the hard drive gets full. The bigger the hard drive, the farther back in time you can review.

Most DVRs can be connected to your local area network which ultimately gives access over the Internet. All programming, archiving, viewing, and configuration can be done from any PC anywhere in the world.
Recordings can be transferred to on-board CD burner or onto a USB memory stick
The cost of these systems is determined by the following factors.
1) Number of cameras being recorded
2) Size of the hard drive
3) Recording and viewing speed rated as Total Frames per Second
4) Warranty

**ADT PAYS** ADT and HomeSmart Central have teamed up for Your Benefit. Receive a $200 rebate on any new Security System from ADT (valued at $299+).

Home security includes a range of products to help you protect your home from the natural elements, safety, and theft. Lightning arrestors for whole house, pool, patio, property entry alarms, entry access controls for people and pets, alarms detecting forced entry include motion, infrared and window breakage, and door and window opening. Fire, heat, smoke, carbon monoxide, leak or flood, detectors. Call buttons for child or assisted care. Driveway sensors, Cameras in locations for child (nanny or domestic help), supervision, visitor entry, or general security when away. All of these devices can be monitored through the house's main control system and the information and images can be monitored from any location with a computer and internet access.
The centerpiece of an integrated home is the Management System. The Management System is a UL/FCC approved security system with the capacity to control any size residential application. At the heart of the system is a programming engine that allows your Home Smart Central installer to integrate lighting, temperature, a phone interface, and other key subsystems with the security of the home. This flexibility is not found in any other security product on the market.
Enhanced Home Safety
Most traditional security systems are single purpose controllers. They are designed to monitor points of protection for specific events. When an emergency or security event occurs, the system sounds the alarm and informs a monitoring service*. At Home Smart Central we believe in the audible alert and central monitoring but we also believe the system should do more. We feel so strongly that we have focused our main product offering towards our Management System. By integrating systems in the home we are able to have the system take action toward the events that caused the alarm. For instance, in the event of a fire the Management System can sound an alarm and notify a monitoring station. In addition, the system can instruct the Thermostats to shut down the home ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and not distribute smoke and feed fresh oxygen to the flames. At the same time the Home Smart Central Lighting System can be instructed to turn all controlled lights in the home to 100% to help those in the home see their way out safely. Finally, the Management System can flash the front porch light to visually alert the authorities to the home.
Management System is part of a three-tier approach to security. Any good security design focuses first on making the house the least desirable to target. Quality locks and trimmed landscaping helps but nothing is as big of a deterrent as lighting. The Home Smart Central Management has the ability to intelligently control the lighting to make the house always look occupied. Simple features like turning the front porch on at sunset and off in the morning can make a difference. When the system is placed in Vacation mode a different lighting pattern can be implemented to make the home appear lived in even though you are hundreds of miles away.
If an alarm should occur it can be disorienting experience. To help keep customers calm and informed the Alarm Notification Module can describe the alarm type and location in full speech. In the middle of the night this can be a lifesaver to know where an alarm was activated. Additional uses for the Notification Module include pool door and driveway notification. A key function of a well-designed security system is keeping the user informed.
Energy Management
Energy management has become a focus in the United States thanks to shortages in California and additional shortages predicted for other states. Saving energy with the Management System becomes easy. Best of all, it reduces the monthly electrical bill without sacrificing comfort or changing habits Temperatures can be automatically set back based on arming the security system Comfortable temperatures can be shifted based on outdoor temperature and/or humidity levels. Outdoor temperature can be displayed on every thermostat. Thermostats carry the Energy Star approval and include Energy Efficiency control to minimize the use of auxiliary heat. Turn off unnecessary lighting at the touch of a button or send an âAll Offâ command when the system is armed to Night mode. Automatically dim outdoor floodlights during late hours to retain security while saving energy. The options are limitless!
The set back thermostat has been available for years, yet the majority of homes donât use them. In informal studies at Home Smart Central we have found that our customers understand that they save a significant amount of money. There is easily enough savings for the thermostat to pay for itself in under a year! If that is so, why isn't there a set back thermostat in every house in the United States? At Home Smart Central we have determined 2 reasons, first, intimidation. Many digital thermostats are complicated and require directions. We refer to this situation as the â12:00 VCR scenario.â If it is too difficult the customer will not use it. The second reason is comfort. Most of our customers want to save money and energy but donât want to sacrifice comfort. Most digital thermostats are based on a time clock. Most lifestyles are not based on time. It is nearly impossible to use a clock to determine when you will be home or away. What if it is a vacation day or you come home from work early?
Home Smart Central has solved both of these issues by integrating our HSC Thermostats with our HSC Management System. This state of the art technique allows the security system and thermostats to work together seamlessly. Simply choose your comfort, set back and vacation set back temperatures and we do the rest. Now every time the system is armed to away you are saving energy! When you return the thermostats quickly recover, making the house comfortable again. The integration provided by Home Smart Central is the key to offering you true energy savings without sacrificing comfort. In addition, the seamless integration between systems provides a platform for the user to control HVAC from the phone, keypad, PC, and even includes options for the Internet or touch screens.
Home Smart Central thermostat solutions are available for nearly every type of HVAC system available, including gas, heat pumps, radiant heat, multi-stage systems, zoned systems, and geothermal systems. As long as the HVAC system does not require proprietary thermostats, which is rare, then S Thermostats will work.
