Because speakers are mounted flush in the wall or ceiling they can be easily camouflaged. If desired, the grills can be painted for a truly custom look.
Single Source, Multiple Rooms The most economical way to distribute audio to multiple rooms is to add volume controls and/or a room selector box. This provides the most cost effective solution that will often allow a customer to use their existing audio components.
Amplified Volume Controls This popular solution provides quality audio to be distributed throughout the house over Category 5 wire. This requires dedicated audio Category 5 runs that are separate from the standard voice and data cables. The limitless flexibility makes controlling a large number of rooms cost effective and easy to use. In addition, when IR (infrared) keypads are used, it is possible to use a remote control in one room and control the audio components on the other side of the house. You don't have to walk across the house to choose the next CD in a multi-disc player anymore! The amplified volume controls also have the added benefit of using an in-room audio source.. During the day the audio in an office could play from the whole house source. Drop a CD into the PC or fire up an MP3 player and the volume control will automatically begin to play the audio from the PC, using the quality built-in room speakers. The Local Source Module is a great way to share a single set of speakers.
Multiple Sources, Multiple Rooms For families with different audio tastes it is often desirable to listen to different audio sources simultaneously. Today's modern systems allow you to push clearly marked keypads in different rooms to choose your audio source. In addition, whole house paging, doorbell, and door answer features can be added for the truly integrated home. No one is forced to listen to the same music at the same time. Now everyone can hear what they like, when they like, and in rich stereo sound!

If you are building a new house or addition, any location that may be utilized as a home theater should be pre-wired for video feed, satellite feed, telephone, data, and audio. Behind the components should be no less than 2 Cat5s and 2 RG6s. It is always recommended that this be doubled. In addition to the home theater applications, it is recommended to run a Category 5 to the structured wiring enclosure for control of home automation, audio/video feeds, etc. via IR. Since home theater criteria and components are changing rapidly it is recommended to consider running a conduit pipe from the structured wiring enclosure to the A/V location. A second conduit can be run to a possible projector location.
