Telephone Wire

Residential telephone service was originally installed with 4 untwisted wires. When the cable was first chosen it was never intended to carry 2 phone lines. As the needs of the customers grew the phone company began to use one pair for line 1 and the second pair for line 2. Unfortunately, this led to a phenomenon called cross talk, when callers on one line could faintly hear the conversation on the other line. Today the FCC has ruled against traditional 4-conductor wire and has mandated a minimum of Category 3 wire. By today’s standards Category 3 is obsolete and has been replaced with Category 5e. The 4 pairs in a Category 5e cable allow up to 4 phone lines without cross talk. In addition, HomeSmart Central will wire all of the phone jacks back to the structured wiring closet giving limitless flexibility for phone locations and the number of phone lines.

Today's Telephone Systems

The average home today has at least 2 phone lines. Incorporate a home office and that number often jumps to 3 or even 4 lines. The telephone has become an integral system in the home for socializing, work, faxing and even Internet connectivity. A phone system combining these systems makes them easier to use and adds a large number of convenience features.

Home Phone Interface Module
This unit provides up to six (6) locations of telephone distribution throughout the home. Jacks are provided to expand beyond six (6) locations with additional modules. Diagnostic switches allow a technician to easily verify telephone connection. A security phone interface is included.

Home Phone Interface Module with Phone System Interface

This unit provides up to eleven (11) locations of telephone distribution throughout the home. Jacks are provided to expand beyond eleven (11) locations with additional modules. Diagnostic switches allow a technician to easily verify telephone connection. A security phone interface is included. This unique module allows a quick connection to a phone system.

Phone System Controller

The Phone System Controller is the ‘brains’ of the phone system features. The controller is custom configured based on the number of phone lines and phone stations. Configurations can include doorbell stations, music on hold, gate operators, or whole house paging.

Basic System Phone

12 phone line buttons and 12 flexible buttons. Includes a headset jack. Available in white or black.

Available with or without a speakerphone.

Phone System Interface Cables

These cables are used to connect the Home Phone System Interface Module to the Phone System.

Paging, Forwarding

“Pam! John’s on the phone!” Why shout? The phone system has replaced the intercom as the whole house communication system. Well-designed, attractive phones are distributed throughout the home with capabilities often found in business phone systems. A call comes in and an LCD display can show the name and/or number of the person calling*. When the phone is answered and it is for someone else in the house, press the hold button. Direct extension buttons allow you to talk to a room or press All Page if you don’t know the correct room. Let the person know who is calling and they can speak back over the room’s speakerphone. Hang up the phone and the call has been transferred. Just like an office, a phone system can add structure to the communication in the home.

System Speaker Phone with Backlit LCD Display

Backlit and clear LCD display for date and time, Called ID, and station-to-station paging. 12 phone line buttons and 12 flexible buttons. Includes a headset jack. Available in white or black.

System Speaker Phone with 3 Line Backlit LCD Display

Backlit and clear LCD display with 3 lines of information to display date and time, Called ID, and station-to-station paging. 12 phone line buttons and 12 flexible buttons. Includes a headset jack. Available in white or black.

* Caller ID features require a display phone, a system configured for caller ID and caller ID phone service enabled.

Wireless System Phone

A full-featured Digital 900 MHz Spread Spectrum cordless phone. Backlit keypad and display for usage in a dark room. 4 function buttons are programmable to work just like system phones. Available in white or black.

Baby Monitor

Looking for an easy way to monitor the baby’s room anywhere in the home? A baby extension can be set to never ring. Push the baby’s room extension from any room in the house and monitor. Because the system runs over the in house phone lines you do not expose your privacy like with traditional wireless baby monitors.

Door Stations

Communicate with the front door from any phone in the home. When the doorbell station button is pressed, all phones in the home ring with a distinctive pattern. When the phone is answered the user is talking to the person at the door. The Door Station Module is a convenient and safe way to answer the door.

Brass Doorbell Station

All of the features of the Traditional Phone System with a different look. Available in a number of finishes including Antique Brass, Antique Copper, Black, Polish Chrome, Satin Nickel, Satin Silver, and White.

Wireless

The full-featured Digital 900 MHz Spread Spectrum cordless system phone includes a backlit keypad and display for usage in a dark room. Four (4) function buttons are programmable to work just like system phones. The phone and charging base are available in black or white.

Voice Mail

It is very popular for a home to have 2 or more phone lines for the residence, business, fax, and kids. A voice mail system simplifies the phone features with common mailboxes and forwarding features found in business phone systems.

Data:

The Internet has changed the way people communicate, shop, research, and entertain. This new technology has also had a major impact on the way a home is wired. Category 5e cable has changed not only the way networks are designed but also how phone services are wired. This cable gained acceptance so quickly because of its ability to isolate signal from noise without expensive shielding. Inside the cable the conductors are twisted into 4 pairs. Each pair is then twisted around each other in a special arrangement. The twists are the secret to the cable’s performance. It is imperative the twists in the jacket stay in place during installation. HomeSmart Central installers are trained in modern installation techniques to ensure the cable is never pulled beyond manufacturers’ specifications. In addition, care is taken to ensure the cable is not pulled tightly over 90° bends that can potentially damage the cable and reduce its performance. Once a cable has been damaged it cannot be ‘fixed’ by simply straightening it out. Our HomeSmart Central installers understand these principles and will take care to ensure cables in your installation are treated with care.

The speed of your internal network is dependent on a number of parameters including the equipment in the home. The speed of an Internet connection is directly related to the quality of service provided by the Internet service provider. A quality HomeSmart Central installation includes a process called verification as standard practice. Verification ensures each cable drop is terminated correctly and that no cables were cut during installation. To determine the actual performance of the network, HomeSmart Central offers an installation certification process that tests the real performance of the network. The certification option is recommended for any customer that will be using their network heavily and requires the fastest possible speeds.

High-Speed Internet Interface (Router)

The High-Speed Internet Interface (Router) allows multiple computers in the home to share a single high-speed Internet connection, as well as data and peripherals. Provides a network connection of up to four (4) computers. Additional computers can be added with the addition of a Data Expansion Switch.

Data Expansion Switch

This module provides up to six (6) additional computers to be added to a High-Speed Internet Interface (Router). Note: This is an 8-port switch. A port from the router and switch are needed to tie the components together, leaving 6 additional ports.

HomeSmart Central offers the correct combination of hubs and switches to create a network infrastructure. For customers looking for a complete plug and play solution we can offer the services of HomeSmart Central. HSC has a complete staff of network experts of staff that can quickly configure your Microsoft, Linux, or Macintosh based network to share printers, share an Internet connection, or exchange files. We will be happy to introduce you to their knowledgeable staff during the installation process.
